Texas Rangers Heritage Center

Last week we visited The Texas Rangers Heritage Center in Fredericksburg, Texas. It is a museum dedicated to those men who have fought crime and criminals since the Wild West days.

Captain Cornelius V "Neal" Coldwell was the Rangers Quartermaster and Paymaster from  9 May 1879 to 31 Dec. 1882. he also served in Company F (from 4 June 1874 to 31 August 1876), and in Company A (from 1 Dec. 1876 to 31 August 1878).

In the main pavilion, there is a display of artifacts related to the Rangers including the type of handguns they used.

Reverend Doctor (Captain) Pierre Bernard Hill was the Rangers' Chaplain from 19 October 1928 to 30 December 1931. He was the one who composed the Rangers' Prayer (in the photo below).

The chuck wagons used in the old days were like miniature homes. They were full of basic items needed in everyday life.

Outside the pavilion - the Ring of Honor commemorates all the Rangers who served in the Texas frontier.

The museum offers educational programs including lesson plans for teachers. More about the place on its WEBSITE.

The Bell Tower is not far from the main museum pavilion.
