On May 1, we happened to see the very first two episodes which we found quite interesting and interesting. Anyway, we had not heard about Farscape before. Later, we traced the series on TV and have been watching it since then.
The series is all about the adventures of space travelers (John Crichton - human and other non-human characters). Farscape very much reminds me an involving comic series turned into a screen production.
However, the end of the first season was rather disappointing as a few episodes were too dark, considering the plot. Furthermore, they were more like 'cheap' soap episodes than SF comic book adventures. We did not like that turn at all. Luckily, the series came back to its more interesting version in the second season.
The final season of Wallander reminded me the original Swedish series episodes which I had seen in Poland. Having lived in Texas, I quite miss the European cinema - so many movies which I would enjoy watching again: French comedies with Louis de Funes, Czech comedies (including The Adventures of Good Soldier Svejk), Italian films and many, many more.
We found the documentary 'What Our Fathers Did' rather disappointing. We expected an interesting work on WW2 related facts. Sadly, in our opinion, it was more about breaking an old man (who was a little boy during WW2) than about the war and history itself. Well, we can understand why a person prefers to see their father as a beloved parent, especially if the truth is too traumatic to face it. That was why we did not see a point in watching something that looked like a prosecution of the little boy/old man for the deeds of his father.
Treblinka's Last Witness was quite a different piece - educational and informative - the history from a personal perspective - memories and testimonials of WW2 survivors.
Finally, I need to add a few words about 'Fury'. A good war movie indeed, but the green and red shooting/fire lights totally spoilt the atmosphere of the movie. The red light was for German shots and green for American soldiers. It all looked like SF film scenes not real WW2 battlefield. Maybe the colorful effects were supposed to make the shooting parts more interesting or more adjusted to expectations of the nowadays audience, I do not know. According to me it was rather awkward. We had seen many war movies about WW2 before, but none of them made the war look like Star Wars encounters.
