O for Ostriches

"O" in "My Texas Alphabet" is for Ostriches that you can see here and there.

Well, some people raise them in the area.

A different sort of pet or is it for eggs?

I am not sure. Maybe both?

"My Texas Alphabet" is quite a personal summary of our hitherto life in Texas.

Our Cats & Friends: Kaytek Is Gone / Nie ma Kajtka

Kaytek Is Gone / Nie ma Kajtka

Not long ago after his sister died, Kaytek started hiding himself in a wardrobe. At first we thought he was grieving, missing Pusia. Since he was not eating much, mum took him to the vet's. Some test had been done and it appeared, six of Kaytek's teeth needed to be extracted. And so it happened.

Luckenbach Pets

Here are the pets which we met during our last visit in Luckenbach, Texas.

Cats
They are so much used to visitors that they do not really care for their presence.

Inside the store

Dog - inside the pub - he enjoyed listening to a concert by a local country artist: singer and guitar player.

Cocks

As usual,  cocks rule in Luckenbach. However, that day, due to small number of guests visiting the place, the cocks did not jump on the tree branches. They just walked freely here and there, shouting loud to let everybody know who the master is.

There were also other creatures..

... a guest from Australia

and

a local Texas guy

Catherine - Punk Rock Cat

Here is Catherine. She lives with Janet and Richard in Illinois.
Look at her. Isn't she lovely?

Catherine ' is “resting” from all her hard work. Yes, that’s her toy: Rowdy Rat, which she is using as a pillow.'

She has already visited our blog and check it out here). We are glad she is back again as the cat is known for her special taste:

'Catherine did it again, as she just can’t resist pretending to be a bee where Oriental lilies are concerned.  No harm at all to the plant, but what a chore for her to have to clean herself up.  She WILL, eventually, but in the meantime…. Here is her punk look!

Is that shame I see in those downcast eyes?'

It Is Hot Again, Take Good Care of Your Pets!

The hot summer season has already been here and hotter and hotter day are to come soon. Remember - you are not the only one who gets hot and tired in the heat, your pets suffer too! Especially, if they are not hydrated properly. So whether you take them on a trip or leave them at home - provide them with fresh water. Not only you get thirsty when it is hot. So do your pets.

Let them stay in and do not keep them outside too long. Cats and dogs do not have eccrine sweat glands in their skin, so they are not able to cool their bodies with sweat.
Do no take them to the beach - staying in the sun may be fun according to you but not necessarily to your dog. Besides, hygiene on the beach matters too - meaning pets toilet time.
And please, do not leave them in the car when you go to take care of your errands. Even when you think it will only take 5 or 10 minutes. They may not survive it.

The summer is here again.

Take good care of your pet!

Playful Little One & Bigger One

These pictures were taken some time ago, when our Cute Family Doggies were a bit younger. The little one looked so different then. From the very beginning they liked playing together. If you have your own pets you know - you do not need television, watching them play is quite an entertainment too.

Blogging: 3 in 1

I have decided it is time for me to merge the three blogs which I run, and make them one and the same Internet space called FavTreats.

My other blogs are: In The Kitchen With Tobo and Our Cats & Friends. I started the previous one when I moved to the US. I shared my kitchen - cooking and baking - experiences there, meaning  learning, trying new recipes  + something more.  At first I posted pictures only, later I was adding some texts also.

In The Kitchen With Tobo

From the blog description: This blog has never meant to be just another cookery Internet space or a cook blog. There are so many such pages with interesting, useful recipes you can try in your kitchen. Another one is not really needed then. That is why if you are searching any particular recipes, probably you won't find them here.
Somebody has said that kitchen is the heart of home. I do agree that kitchen is not only about cooking. It is also about sharing and being together - with your family and friends. And about learning too, which means not only cooking again. Anyway, I do love learning the Southern cooking and trying new recipes.
But it is only a part of it all which really matters.

 Our Cats & Friends

The other blog had its beginning much earlier, in 2008. It is dedicated to all the pets and animals we meet on our ways who have made our days brighter and more joyful. Just to save them from being forgotten. Not many words but much love.
