A few decades ago, Gruene was still a quiet, charming place, with very few cars and hardly anybody walking around.
We went there in July, we did not expect to see all those cars there (we had a problem with finding a parking space) + even more people visiting the place at the same time. The old constructions are still charming and worth seeing but the tranquility of the place is gone.

Ernst Gruene and his wife Antoinette came to Texas in November 1845. The man bought some land by the river and planted cotton there. That was the beginning of the Gruene Community.
