70s Inspired - Part 2

The topic has faded away a bit (and my interest in it), but since I did the post "70s Inspired Part 1", I complete it with part #2.

This time, just a few pieces of clothing that could be worn both on a regular summer day and a dance night (depending on what shoes and a head cover you choose). All the items which I have chosen are currently available at amazon.com.

Dress/ Top

I like this floral dress. Do not get discouraged with the word "Halloween" in its description. I guess it was probably added to increase the sale around the end of October. Who says it can't be worn in the summer? Perhaps the ones with little imagination? All the dresses on offer are pretty colorful, my choice is the last one in the second row.

If you decide the dress is too short, you can wear it with the white denim shorts (Angerella Denim Shorts for Women/ Folded Hem Hot Short Jeans). The torn shorts version which they have on offer is not of my liking + it would not match the 70s style look.

Another match for the shorts would be R.Vivimos Floral Embroidered Off Shoulder Long Sleeve Short  (Yellow) Dress. The shoulders up/on would be my option, though.

Boots

The ones similar to the picture included below were my first choice, but I waited too long with making this post and they are no longer available at the Amazon store.

Nevertheless, I have found a pair of similarly-looking boots with fringes. Maybe they are even better regarding the set of clothing presented above as they have a higher heel.

For a more disco/evening look - white knee-high boots.

Head Cover

A cute WETOO beige cap matches it all. FaLasoso leather cap would be more suitable for an evening look.

A Simplicity Panama style straw hat (color A-natural) can be an option to wear on a sunny day as well.

 Other accessories

Bracelets

Beaded Pearl Bangle Wrap Bracelet - the beads are available in different colors and pattern options. The all-grey one seems to go well with silver-tone necklaces.

Riah Fashion Multicolor Bracelet  is a more colorful option.

Handwoven, quite an original bracelet with beads - here.

Necklaces

The one I like best is this sterling silver flower pendant.

Then goes this simple, but interesting silver-tone long necklace.

Another sterling silver one - Celtic Knot (triquetra) and Moon pendant.

If you like crosses, here is an elegant Miabella 925 sterling silver Italian cross + 18-inch chain.

The last one is a set of 4 cute and rather modest Heishi Surfer Choker 12 Pcs Beaded Layered Necklaces. They could look good as an everyday type of accessory. However, I would rather give the one with the smileys to someone else.

Well, that's all for now regarding the 70s style.

My Texas Alphabet: C for Cowgirl Hat

The idea for this alphabet post series comes from ' The Alphabet of My Emigration' by Dee Dorota L., member of The Polish Ladies Abroad Club, who has relocated to England.
I have also decided to join the project and write about My Texas Alphabet twice a week.

I bought my cowgirl hat when I was still in Poland. However, I wore it maybe twice there, due to some passersby reactions which I happened to experience. I guess the hat was too shocking to them - some people giggled when they saw me, some commented: "O, cowboys have arrived". It seemed to be regarded as quite an exotic thing to wear. Anyway, those situations made me feel weird then.

These days I can wear my hat whenever I want to and wherever I go. No matter what time of the day or season is. Nobody pays attention to my headcover - cowboy and cowgirl hats are as usual in Texas as jeans and T-shirts. Not to mention boots of course. On the other hand, I could wear hair rollers as well, and nobody would stare at me either. I have seen a lady with hair rollers on her head (at a supermarket) - nobody cared about it.
All in all, I like my hat and I very much prefer it to any, even most beautiful, hair rollers.

How Many St. Patrick's Day T-Shirts Do You Have?

Krystyna, my friend, has gone on her life trip to China. I am very happy for her but I am also hoping, she will share her experiences on this blog when she comes back.

St. Patrick's Day has come again. At this time of the year, almost every store sells some Ireland related items. I like the idea of getting a special green T-shirt every year. Yet, I have had only three so far. How many St. Patty's Day Tees do you have?

A very interesting online store which offers all kind of goodies connected with, and made on the Emerald Island is ShopIrish.com. Looking through the things they have in stock, one can find gifts for everyone (from little babies to grandparents), including food and kitchen items, clothing and accessories, jewellery, home and garden pieces. Besides, they also sell special Celtic Christmas ornaments and gift cards. The prices at the store are quite reasonable, what is more, budget buyers can choose products under $25 also.
Another, but very different (including prices), place which offers genuine Irish products is National Geographic Store. I especially like the Irish sweaters and cardigans they have. Made of thick wool, most of them would not be very useful where we are, but it is nice to watch them and admire their textures and patterns.

One day, when I was doing a regular shopping, to my surprise, I came across quite an impressing St. Patrick's Day hat. It was made of a soft plush-like fabric with a gold, shiny clover pattern all over the hat. And that fluffy, feathery rim! Not only the quality of the hat surprised me so much. It was October, not the time of the year when you expect to find St. Patrick's Day items on the shelves. And the hat (the only one in that store) was simply lying there, like a green gem among the grayish winter hats. It really made my shopping time! Finally, even though I found a matching pair of green leather gloves, I did not buy the hat. I was simply not ready for that special green-and-gold treat. But trying it on was fun!

Find out more more about Ireland and St. Patrick's Day:
  • Ireland Guide by National Geographic,
  • St. Patrick and his life - this website (seems to be extremely busy today) is all about Ireland, with not only history facts but also Irish recipes, songs lyrics, games for kids, pen-pal's section and many more,
  • St. Patrick's Day traditions - if there is too much 'traffic' on the web-page and it does not open today, try to see the website later, it is really worth it.

 Happy St. Patrick's Day!
