Cardigan, Wales |
The Griffith family was one of the pioneer families of Anne Arundel County in Maryland.
Orlando Griffith was a grandson of the second wife of Capt. John Howard Jr., Elinor McCubbin - he has been already mentioned in the posts about the Howard family connections.
Orlando's home was known as White Place. In 1728, he became a vestry member of Queen Caroline Parish, and occupied pew No. 8, together with Capt. John Howard and Nicholas Dorsey.
Nicholas Dorsey Sr. (b. about 1690, Maryland/d. Sept. 1717, All Hallows Parish, Maryland) is our direct ancestor as well. His son Col. Nicholas Dorsey Jr. (b. about 1712, Maryland/d. 1780) Sarah A Griffith (b. 13 May 1718/d. 1 Sept. 1794), Orlando's daughter.
The direct family line which goes from Orlando Griffith to our great-grandmother Jurita was already described in the post related to Mr. Harry Truman.
⇒ her daughter Sarah A (Griffith) Dorsey
⇒ her daughter Rachel Annie (Dorsey) Holbrook
⇒ her son William Holbrook
⇒ his son Samuel Asberry Holbrook
⇒ his daughter Mary (Holbrook) Hagood/Haygood
⇒ her daughter Hannah E (Hagood) Ledbetter
⇒ her daughter Jurita Elizabeth Ledbetter
